Dr. Stephanie Cacioppo has devised the G.R.A.C.E. acronym for five science-based practices to help prevent loneliness by improving our emotional fitness.
Five Steps

We are not to blame if we feel lonely at times. Loneliness is a natural experience. No one feels guilty to feel thirsty. Similarly, no one should feel guilty to feel lonely. Loneliness, just like thirst and hunger, is a biological signal. Feeling like we have the choice to avoid prolonged periods of loneliness is empowering. We have the choice to be curious about life and others, even if it is daunting. We can feel deeply connected to others with the power of the mind…and the heart.
